Sweet Peas are my absolute favourite cutting flower, I grow them from seed every year, starting them off in the glasshouse from March and then planting them outside in the garden once they are established as seedlings. The smell at the moment in our home is incredible from the blossom, and they keep on producing. I usually get 2-3 blossoms in the summer.

Here are some tips for once they are in bloom,
-
Pick often - every 1–2 days is ideal once they’re in full flower; the more you cut, the more buds they’ll produce
-
Never let seed pods form; as soon as the plant “thinks” it has set seed, it starts shutting down flowering.
-
Cut long stems (not just individual blooms), ideally in the cool of morning or evening, and plunge straight into a bucket of cold water in the shade to hydrate for arranging.
-
They like consistently moist soil, not bone‑dry and not waterlogged; think regular drinks rather than a daily drench.
