Clodagh's Top Tips For The Perfect Christmas Tablescape
TOP TIPS FROM CLODAGH FOR CREATING THE PERFECT TABLESCAPE AT HOME THIS CHRISTMAS
I love to place winter fruits down the centre of the table and also spotted around flower vases - fresh figs, pomegranates, and clementines are all in season during the winter months and will make any table look so magical. Half the pomegranates, as the jewels inside the fruit look so pretty and festive, and lots of clementines on a cake stand can look fabulous as a centrepiece.
Warmth and texture is so important for any Christmas table. A rich and warm coloured tablecloth such as a deep berry red, mustard, teal blue and sage green will immediately add a warm texture to the table.
Keep the flowers seasonal - simple bundles of heather or herbs tied together and placed on a napkin looks so lovely. Big beautiful sprigs of pussy willows look fabulous as a centre piece to a winter table, with a few sprigs of red berry branches dotted throughout. Branches of fir and Christmas tree sprigs also look fabulous laid on the table
Use fresh figs as table settings and by making a slit have way down (cutting from the top) you can pop name cards in to them. I will also often use clementines to decorate place settings. Try and get the ones with the green leaves on them so you can write your guests names on the leaf.
Finally don’t forget to add lots of candles to light up your Christmas table! And around the room that you are eating in. Just be mindful of not placing the tall candles in front of the place settings, so you can all see each other.
