6 Reasons Why Owning A Dog Could Be Good For You
I am a BIG Dog lover, and when I say big I mean massive, hugh, enormous fan of dogs. My two dogs are called Alfie and Nolly and they are central to our life and my happiness. I think about how they contribute to my wellbeing all the time and here are my top 6 reasons for you to own a dog too:
1. The dogs fill your heart with love but they also improve your heart's health. So many studies show that having a dog is linked to lower blood pressure, reduced cholesterol, and decreased triglyceride levels, which contribute to better overall cardiovascular health and fewer heart attacks.
2. Health experts recommend that adults get about 2 hours and 30 minutes worth of moderate exercise per week. Dog owners are way more likely to hit that goal.
3. Spending just a few minutes with a dog can lower anxiety and blood pressure, and increase levels of serotonin and dopamine, two neurochemicals that play big roles in calm and wellbeing. People performing stressful tasks do better when there’s a dog around, too, and studies show dogs ease tension both in a work environment and between married couples!
4. Dogs help prevent loneliness and isolation, as well. 2020 might be the year to get one!
5. Dogs make you laugh and we all know that laughing more is simply a good thing.
6. Dogs are super loyal. They see you as a member of their pack. You’ve got their back and they have yours.
